Home of 2030 Competition
We may not yet be a year old but we are through!
Together with The Positive+ Collective our competition entry is to design our homes and communities to meet the combined challenges of the housing crisis, healthy and inclusive living, and The Climate Emergency. The collective has been founded by changebuilding, humblebee, and ourselves: together we embrace a collaborative and agile approach to design.
For the Home of 2030 competition our own experience has been enhanced by experts at Arup in smart building systems, COCIS on bio-based and home-grown materials, and ECOSystems on building manufacturing to cover emerging material, design and product manufacturing innovation and delivery.
Our vision for 2030 is for communities to be extensions of our homes to help tackle social inequalities, move beyond patching up our current way of living and promote community cohesion, inclusive and healthy living, with increased social interaction.
Our proposal, Positive+ House, is not looking simply to minimise impacts but to maximise our positive contribution to society and the environment. It adopts regenerative system design solutions in response to the increasingly urgent issue of climate change and biodiversity loss and the social challenges of our time, whilst recognising the commercial reality of solutions in the housing industry.
